South East Regional Forum on Ageing (SERFA) Conference

On Tuesday 10 March the Learning and Skills Council held a stand at the South East Regional Forum on Ageing (SERFA) Conference entitled “2015 - Creating a Region fit for its Older Population”.

A panel discussed the challenges the South East region faces as the population grows older (housing, infrastructure, poverty, isolation etc). This was followed by five workshops covering:

- Active Ageing / Acting Citizenship

- Skills and Employment

- Housing for an Ageing Population

- Health and Wellbeing

- Achieving Eng-AGE-ment in the South East

The Skills and Employment workshop outlined the outcomes of the research “opportunities for Older Workers in the South East” which would be useful for ESF providers to read. The document can be accessed here. This research supports the 40-70 Tomorrow’s Workforce programme that intends to “maximise the older workforce’s contribution to increased economic activity and productivity in the South East”.
